Random quote: Got a phone call today to do a gig at a fire station. Went along. Turned out it was a bloody hoax.

Geoff Farina & Chris Brokew, C Joynes
Description :Chris Brokaw, (come, codeine, pullman, the new year) http://www.chrisbrokaw.com/
Mr Brokaw is a veteran of so many awesome bands it makes my brain hurt, His solo recordings have been seeping out since the early 2000’s, ranging from the instrumental Red cities, to the pop goodness of 2005’ Incredible Love. Most recently he’s been recording in Ali Farka Toure’s old studio in Mali, and recording and playing with Geoff Farina. He’ll be hitting the streets of Cambridge for the first time with all this good stuff at his fingertips.

Geoff Farina (Karate, Secret Stars, the glorytellers), http://www.geofffarina.com
Mr Farina started an incredible run of good records in the late 90’s with Karate’s minimal post hardcore, and has continued exploring through post rock, indie pop, jazzy interludes and right through to his most recent folk rock material with the glorytellers. He’s bringing his massive back catalogue, and an acoustic guitar.

Both men will be playing solo sets, then combining for a run through of tunes from their new record of pre WWII blues songs “the Angel’s message to Me” out on Capitan records in March.

Support comes from sympathetic fenland guitar maestro C Joynes, http://www.myspace.com/cjoyneswho’s work on the steel string acoustic is probably best filed in the same section as greats like John Fahey, Robbie Basho, and Peter Lang. Nice.
